Arch Pharma staff stir enters seventh day

While the entire labour force across the world was celebrating May Day on Sunday, the relay hunger strike of the employees of Arch Pharma Labs reached its 7th day.

The workers at Sangareddy (Telangana), who formed Arch Pharma Labs United Employees’ Union have been camping at the District Collectorate demanding the payment of six months’ salary which has been pending so far. The company, which has become a sick unit for the past couple of years, has recently shut down bus service and canteen service to the employees and asked the workers not to come to work, assuring them that they would be paid during the shut-down period when there is no production.

The workers also alleged that their ESI and PF contribution has not been deposited by the company for the past two years.

The agitating workers have separated from Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), which has maintained its leadership in the company for all these years.
